Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 24, 2026 • Applicable to TypePilot for macOS (app.typepilot.mac)
1. Overview
TypePilot (Bundle ID: app.typepilot.mac, referred to as 'we', 'our', or 'the Application') is a native macOS software utility designed to provide AI-assisted text transformation and writing enhancement. This Privacy Policy describes how TypePilot handles credentials, user-selected text, and system permissions on macOS.
2. Information TypePilot Stores Locally
TypePilot is designed with a decentralized, local-first architecture. The core application runs locally on your Mac. TypePilot does not maintain user accounts, user registration databases, or cloud profiles. Your preferences, custom prompt commands, and keyboard shortcut settings are stored locally on your Mac within standard macOS user application support directories.
3. API Keys & Credentials
TypePilot utilizes a Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) model. To use AI capabilities, you provide your own API credentials for supported third-party providers (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Groq, or local endpoints). These API keys are stored securely in your native macOS Keychain, protected by Apple's operating system security and hardware Secure Enclave where supported. TypePilot does not transmit your API keys to any TypePilot servers or central infrastructure.
4. AI Provider Requests & Transmission
When you invoke a TypePilot writing action (such as rewriting, proofreading, summarizing, or translating), the specific text you have selected, along with your prompt instructions, is transmitted directly from your Mac to your configured third-party AI provider's API endpoint over encrypted HTTPS. TypePilot does not route these requests through an intermediary TypePilot server. Please note that third-party AI providers process and retain data according to their respective API terms and commercial data policies (for example, OpenAI API data usage policies or Anthropic commercial data terms). We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of your chosen AI providers.
5. Accessibility Permissions & Text Access
TypePilot requests macOS Accessibility permissions in System Settings. This permission is strictly used to determine the active text selection when you trigger a keyboard shortcut and to paste or replace the resulting text back into your active application. TypePilot does not monitor, record, log, or store background keystrokes, clipboard history, or unselected window contents.
6. Diagnostics & Crash Logging
TypePilot does not automatically collect or transmit background telemetry. If the application experiences a crash, diagnostic crash reports may be collected anonymously by Apple through standard macOS App Store diagnostics only if you have opted in to sharing crash data with developers in macOS System Settings. If you contact support, you may voluntarily provide diagnostic logs to assist in troubleshooting.
7. Analytics & Tracking
The TypePilot macOS application contains zero third-party advertising SDKs, zero user tracking libraries, and zero behavioral analytics trackers.
8. Third-Party Services & Links
Our marketing website and documentation may contain links to external websites (such as Apple App Store, AI provider documentation, or support portals). We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external third-party services.
9. Data Retention
Because TypePilot does not operate a central backend database or cloud storage for user content, TypePilot itself does not retain your transformed text or prompts. Local preferences and cached history (if enabled by you) remain on your local disk until you clear them or uninstall the application.
10. Data Security
We prioritize security by utilizing native Apple macOS security frameworks, sandbox capabilities, and Keychain Access APIs. All network communication between your Mac and your configured AI providers is encrypted in transit using standard Transport Layer Security (TLS/HTTPS).
11. Children's Privacy
TypePilot is a general productivity tool and is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect product updates, new macOS requirements, or changes in legal regulations. Any revisions will be published on this page with an updated revision date.
13. Contact & Legal Inquiry
If you have questions, feedback, or inquiries regarding this Privacy Policy or TypePilot, please contact developer Dhaval Umraliya directly via email at: dhavalumraliya2212@gmail.com.
